Think Ten Years Ahead. Decide Today.

Think Ten Years Ahead. Decide Today.

When we try to imagine the future, we often think about big things.

Where we want to live.

What kind of work we want to do.

How much we want to earn.

What we want to have built.

But a useful vision should not look like a wish list.

It should help you make decisions.

Because the value of thinking long term is not in predicting exactly what your life will look like.

It is in giving you a point of reference.

The future changes the present

Think about someone preparing to run a marathon.

Race day may still be months away.

But that date already changes what they do today.

When they train.

When they rest.

What they eat.

Which commitments they accept.

Which decisions they protect.

The race has not happened yet.

But it is already influencing the present.

A personal vision works in much the same way.

When you have clarity about the life you want to build, you begin noticing which decisions move you closer and which ones move you away.

A vision is not only for imagining the future. It is for filtering the present.

Do not imagine only the big achievements

There is a simple way to make a vision feel more real.

Do not imagine only the outcome.

Imagine an ordinary day.

A regular Tuesday ten years from now.

Where do you wake up?

Who are you with?

What kind of work are you doing?

What does your schedule look like?

How do you take care of your health?

How much time do you have for the people who matter?

Which problems are no longer part of your life?

What are you still doing because you genuinely enjoy it?

That Tuesday may tell you more about the life you want than a list of ten major goals.

Because your life will not be made only of extraordinary moments.

It will be made mostly of ordinary days.

TOOL OF THE WEEK

Design a Tuesday ten years from now

Take 10 minutes and describe an ordinary day in your life ten years from now.

    Answer:

    1. Where do I live?

    2. How do I spend my time?

    3. Who do I share it with?

    4. How do I work?

    5. How do I take care of my health?

    6. What have I stopped tolerating?

    7. What kind of impact am I creating?

Then return to the present and ask yourself:

What decision am I making today that does not fit that life?

You do not need to change everything.

    Identify one thing.

    This week

Write to me at carlos@focusacademy.lat and tell me which current decision looked different after imagining that day ten years from now.

You do not need to know exactly how you will get there.

You only need to begin recognizing which direction makes sense for you.

A useful vision does not help you escape the present. It forces you to take it more seriously.
